Break Through the Crowd is a reality competition that blends the best of business reality formats with the crowdsourcing ethos that is the hallmark of the way the millennial generation does business. Our panel of expert investors will find the most compelling desi entrepreneurs in America, and will invest in the best entrepreneur’s ideas. The catch? To get the investment, the entrepreneur will need to complete a crowd source campaign challenge!

Meet The Judges

Nick Adams

Nick Adams is the co-founder and Managing Partner of Differential Ventures. Previously, Nick was a Venture Partner at Supernode.vc, f.k.a. Flatiron Investors, in New York City where he evaluated seed-stage SaaS companies and led the due diligence for multiple investments. Before moving into Venture Capital, Nick held senior sales, marketing and product management roles for software companies that have realized over $1.3 billion in exit value. He actively mentors startups out of Cornell Tech, NYU, Northeastern University and the German Tech Accelerator. Nick has a MSc in Global Finance from NYU and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, a MBA in Corporate Finance from Northeastern University and a BA in History from Brandeis University.

Alan Brody

A noted startup guru, Alan Brody is the CEO of Convean, the business strategy and event company. He is the founder of Blockchain Breakthroughs and the author of Are You Fundable? He is the founder of Angel Week and the Startupalooza pitching forum along with the Capital Raising Workshop in 8 Cities. He founded the iBreakfast, New York and L.A.’s longest running Digital Media Executive Networking Group. He created the Marcom Awards, the first awards program for online advertising & marketing (now ADWEEK’s Icon Awards). He has been a columnist for divisions of Advertising Age and ADWEEK and has authored a book on marketing and cigarette branding.

Sandy Wollman

Sandy is the Co-founder and Managing Director for the Westchester Angels and leads the New York Area Angel Group Leaders Initiative, which brings the Directors of the largest Angel Groups in the tri-state area together to share deal flow. Previously, Sandy created and self-funded The Small Business Advisory Alliance, a non-profit organization. Starting his professional career at 3M Corporation as a product development engineer, he was awarded a US Patent for a hook and loop fastener (Velcro) with superior tensile strength. He gained business experience as a partner in Carna Mills, a large textile converting company, for over 20 years. His clients included Ralph Lauren, Guess and Co, and Capital Mercury Shirt Company.

Ramit Arora

Ramit Arora, President and Co-founder of Biz2Credit, is one of America’s top experts in small business lending. Since its inception in 2007, Biz2Credit has arranged $2 billion in funding and now has over 200,000 registered small and mid-sized company clients. He has 10+ years of experience in financial services with Citibank and Xerox, and has considerable experience in risk management. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and a Master’s in Accounting. In 2011, he and his brother Rohit were named New York City’s “Top Entrepreneurs” by Crain’s New York Business, which also named Biz2Credit among NYC’s “Fast 50” of 2014. He meets regularly with top executives from the Federal Reserve and the Small Business Administration (SBA) to provide guidance on trends.

Episode 1

We briefly meet the team of four investors responsible for screening the entrepreneurs. This is not your traditional panel of investors. Brash, frank personalities will contrast those who have a genuine desire to help without hurting any feelings. One after the other, entrepreneurs funnel in to present their ideas. The entrepreneurs ask questions to better assess the concept, and feedback is given on how they can make their business and their pitch better.

Episode 2

Early into the season, viewers already know that judges Sandy, Nick, Ramit and Alan are not afraid to tell it how it is and their brutally-honest feedback is meant to help contestants perfect their pitches, where every word counts. On this episode of “Break Through The Crowd,” we hear from Vikram Chopra of Gift Jeenie; Prakash and Lakshmi Hosalli of Akila Labs; Kyle Tysvaer of Steal My Wedding Day; and Sachin Narode of Emangoz.

Episode 3

On this week’s episode of “Break Through The Crowd,” airing exclusively on ZEE TV, the remaining semi-finalists were given an opportunity to rework their pitches and their business models. While some of the contestants were eager to hear ideas on how to improve their concepts, others found it difficult to budge. Only five entrepreneurs were able to advance to this phase of the show for a chance to turn their business dreams into a reality.

Episode 4

After contestants presented their newly-reworked 60-second pitches, only two entrepreneurs proved their concepts had the juice to run a successful crowdfunding campaign, bringing them that much closer to their business dreams. In the end, only one hopeful will “break through the crowd” and walk away with a team of prestigious marketing and crowdfunding experts.

Episode 5

This week, three prestigious experts – and a big-name special guest – join the show’s cast as mentors to the remaining finalists. Experts Ryan Foland, an international keynote speaker and Managing Partner of InflueneTree; Justin Wu, a blockchain community influencer and co-founder of BlockchainNW; Leonard Kim, co-author of the upcoming book “Leverage the Surprising Power of the Real You for Greater Success,” and Managing Partner of Influence Tree; were enlisted to help the remaining two entrepreneurial groups launch their crowdsourcing campaigns.
